As Truist Advisory Services, Inc.’s managing director, fixed income, Chip leads the Investment Advisory team responsible for establishing Truist’s fixed income strategy and outlook. In this role, Chip also works with the Portfolio & Market Strategy team managing portfolios, providing strategic and tactical asset allocation and capital marketing research, and creating custom-constructed portfolio solutions.
Additionally, Chip provides client advisory services addressing client requests for ad hoc fixed income reviews and analysis. Chip authors Truist’s Fixed Income Perspective, Portfolio Construction Guides, and co-authors the Market Navigator and other related topical and market strategy communications. Chip is a frequent contributor to financial media, including Bloomberg, Barron’s, CNN, CNBC, Reuters, Yahoo, and the Wall Street Journal.
Chip has more than 19 years of investment experience in asset allocation strategies, portfolio management, investment research, market strategy, and new business development. Prior to joining Truist in 2020, Chip joined Truist Investment Services, Inc. predecessor BB&T Scott & Stringfellow in 2015 serving as the head of fixed income strategy & services. Chip led the firm’s fixed income investment platform and coordinated its portfolio management and execution strategies. He also served as a co-portfolio manager for BB&T Scott & Stringfellow’s proprietary Global Core ETF Strategies.
Chip also worked at Caprin Asset Management, LLC in Richmond, VA as a vice president and senior trader. There he was responsible for all municipal bond and ETF execution and published the firm’s market commentaries. At Caprin, Chip served as a voting member of the investment committee, credit committee, and was named partner of the firm in 2012.
