Background
Jim Brennan is Managing Director and Senior Wealth Advisor with Truist Bank and part of the GenSpring group. He teams with Lex Smith and Joe DiVincenzo in supporting their client's family legacy planning. With almost 30 years of experience, Jim is a valuable resource in helping families strive towards financial well-being by providing advisory services in a variety of areas, including: investments, estate and gift tax planning, business succession planning, charitable gift planning, family governance and education, income tax planning strategies, retirement and cash flow planning, and insurance needs and product analysis.
Prior to re-joining GenSpring in 2021, Jim held the position of Executive Director for Ernst & Young’s Private Client Group leading their regional Wealth Advisory Group efforts. In 2005, Jim originally joined GenSpring and was the Managing Director of GenSpring’s Florida-West Region, which included the firm’s Orlando, Tampa Bay and Sarasota markets. In this role, he had direct responsibility for the client experience at these offices. Prior to joining GenSpring in 2005, Jim was the Director of Financial Planning with KPMG, working with many of Florida and Georgia’s most prestigious families.
Jim has been published in the Estate Planning Journal in January 2018, "Non-Tax Concerns Raise Need for Family-Entity Planning". Jim is a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional.

Personal Interests
Jim graduated with honors from St. John's University, New York. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance and a master's degree (MBA) in accounting. Jim enjoys being involved in the community and served as a member of the Planned Giving Council for the Tampa General Hospital Foundation. He was a member of the management committee for Florida Investors Capital, a Tampa Bay-based real estate investment fund.
